September in New York City means fashionistas descending onto Lincoln Center in celebration of all things fashion, packing ‘the tents’ in search of that new trend. Moves Magazine takes a different approach with its second annual “Designing for a Cause” Challenge. Moves and Keep a Child Alive have partnered in the name of charity and given 10 Project Runway designers the challenge of designing a red-colored weekend bag to support Keep a Child Alive’s campaign to provide first class AIDS care, support, nutrition and love to children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. Designers Carol Hannah Whitfield, Andrae Gonzalo, Mila Hermanovski, Kit Scarbo, Andy South, Christopher Collins, Suede, Ra’mon-Lawrence Coleman, Chloe Dao, and Althea Harper, were inspired by Keep a Child Alive’s initiatives and created some amazing bag designs.
To keep with the spirit of giving this Fashion Week, each bag will be auctioned off on Ebay and you can go to the dev.newyorkmoves.com homepage for more information. Also supporting this partnership is Nautica Watches, who will be donating a watch with each bag for the online auction.
